At Hill Top Prep, Middle School isn’t just a stepping stone—it’s a launchpad. Designed for neurodiverse learners in grades 5 through 8, our Middle School program nurtures students’ academic potential, social-emotional development, and self-awareness in a supportive and highly individualized environment.
Whether a student is navigating school anxiety, executive functioning challenges, or simply needs a place where they’re truly understood, our middle school helps them reconnect with learning, and rediscover what’s possible.
Curriculum Overview

Reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar instruction are grounded in structured literacy approaches. Students build fluency, comprehension, and confidence through guided reading groups, direct instruction, and creative writing projects.

Multi-sensory math instruction with placement based on skill level, not grade. Emphasis on number sense, problem-solving, and real-world application. Aligned with PA Core Standards for Middle Level Math.

Hands-on, inquiry-based science aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Topics may include life science, earth and space, and basic chemistry/physics, with plenty of lab-based learning.

Exploration of history, geography, and civics using accessible texts and interactive content. Students develop critical thinking skills and an understanding of the world around them.
Twice-weekly physical education that emphasizes movement, cooperation, and self-regulation through various methods, such as team sports, individual sports, our state-of-the-art fitness center, our rock wall, or our on-campus golf simulator. Health topics include wellness, nutrition, and personal responsibility.

Weekly classes in art, music, technology, and creative enrichment, offering a chance to explore passions and build new skills.
