Steps to Admission

We’re delighted that you’re considering Hill Top Preparatory School for your child. To support you in this important decision, we’ve created a simple, step-by-step guide to our admissions process.

From your initial inquiry to the shadow day experience, we’re here to assist you every step of the way. Please explore the steps below and reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to welcoming your family to Hill Top!

The journey begins with learning more about Hill Top Preparatory School. This is a great opportunity to get an overview of our unique programs and supportive environment. To request information or register for an upcoming Open House, please click here.

This step is a key part of our admissions process. It allows us to learn more about your child and begin exploring whether Hill Top is the right environment to support their growth. After this initial conversation, you'll be invited to schedule a campus visit, where you and your child can tour the school and meet with our Admissions Director for a warm and informal interview.

We kindly ask families to submit the following documentation as part of the application process. All the documentation for the application process is uploaded and submitted through our FACTS family portal, linked below.

  • Online Application: Complete the form here.
  • Two Recommendations: (1 academic, 1 therapeutic)
  • Psychoeducational Evaluation: Please provide a recent assessment (within the last three years).
  • Report Cards: Include both the current and previous school year.
  • Photograph of Your Student: A recent photo helps us put a face to the application.
  • IEP/504 Plan*
  • Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA)*
  • Discipline record*

*Only required if applicable to your student.

These documents help us gain a comprehensive understanding of your child's strengths and needs. You can complete the application and upload all documents through our secure FACTS Family portal here.

After reviewing your child’s application, we’ll invite them to join us for a Shadow Day—typically one or two school days spent at Hill Top. This visit allows your child to experience our classrooms in action, connect with potential classmates, and begin to feel at ease in a new environment. For many students, it’s an important and reassuring step in the transition process.

Shadow Days also give our team a chance to better understand your child’s needs and determine if Hill Top is the right fit. Once the application is complete, we’ll reach out to schedule their visit.

The Admissions Committee carefully reviews each student’s complete application to determine if Hill Top is the right fit for them. Families will be informed of an admission decision as promptly as possible, with decisions based on insights gathered from the initial interview, application materials, and feedback from the shadow day.

Hill Top Preparatory School is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, disability, creed, or religion in the administration of our educational programs, admission processes, financial aid, employment policies, or extracurricular activities.
