The Straff House Boarding Program

A Weekday Residential Experience That Builds Independence and Belonging

For some neurodiverse students, consistent structure and peer connection outside the school day are essential for success. That’s why Hill Top Prep offers Straff House; a welcoming, 5-day-a-week boarding option designed to promote independence, routine, and personal growth in a home-like environment.

Located on our campus, Straff House offers students a chance to build life skills, strengthen friendships, and gain confidence, all while maintaining the academic and therapeutic support they receive during the school day.

Why Choose Weekday Boarding?

Straff House is ideal for families seeking a flexible residential model that balances structure and independence. Students stay on campus Sunday evening through Friday afternoon and return home for weekends—allowing time for family connection while providing consistent weekday support.

Our residential staff are trained in supporting neurodiverse learners and focus on helping students:

  • Establish routines and manage time effectively
  • Develop independent living skills in a structured setting
  • Navigate peer relationships and shared responsibilities
  • Practice emotional regulation and problem-solving
  • Gain confidence through increased autonomy

What Life at Straff House Looks Like

  • Daily Routines: Mornings and evenings follow predictable, supportive routines to reduce stress and promote self-management.
  • Shared Meals & Downtime: Students eat dinner together and enjoy supervised time for homework, recreation, or group activities.
  • Life Skills Coaching: Students learn and practice skills like laundry, meal prep, hygiene, and community responsibility.
  • Staff Support: Dedicated residential staff provide coaching, support, and consistent communication with families.

A Safe Step Toward Independence

Straff House isn’t just a place to sleep, it’s an essential part of the Hill Top experience for students ready to develop confidence, strengthen life skills, and build community outside the classroom.

Many students who participate in Straff House go on to thrive in college residence halls and independent living environments because they’ve had the chance to practice what independence looks like in a safe, encouraging space.
